subscribe to the channel so they don't miss articles like that but in this article I'll be talking about something that really focuses on immigrants because hey I'm an immigrant myself and over time I've realized that there's so many opportunities that a lot of people don't pay attention to especially before they come over to in other states now the truth is noticed it is filled with a lot of opportunities especially if you're coming from a place like Africa where in some areas of Africa you are often struggling to even make a dime but in other states you know if you can just do basic things you would often get around and survive so here the things you're gonna get away from this article by the end of this article you're gonna get some tips as to what you need to keep in mind for even come to United States the second thing you need to remember is that as an immigrant I've something about 10-years is so what I'll share with you first and experiences alright this is not something that I read about these are the things that I heard about these are things that I experienced firsthand so please if you find value this article please consider giving this article a thumbs the day people will learn from your own experiences as well so let's get to it now when I came to the net state in 2010 I came here as a student to do my training and also go to school before I left Nigeria I already got my bachelor's degree and I completed my NYC people from Nigeria and it's not what I'm talking about now by the time I go to United States I went through the whole program finished that and I realized that I didn't have a lot of opportunities back at home instead of me going home to try to you know get into the queue because there is which kind of line of work that I mean you can't have to go sit down and spend more money to get more qualifications before you can even get a job in Nigeria and that is even if you get a job because most people often get a job through connections or three uncle's or through a politician that is powerful and if you don't know that politician where you're out of luck you get no job I decided I would stay in the United States go for more educational qualifications so I went to school for another two years and a government publications and I finally got a job and you know went through the whole program but that's not really what I want to talk about what I want to talk about is that if you are coming from a different part of the world and you're coming to the United States of America and your plan is to come seek opportunities so that you can improve yourself and maybe achieve your goals and your dreams and maybe even help your family members back home there are few things you must keep in mind first in is this you need to understand the United States is a value seeking country and what I mean by that is this in order for you to make it in America you need to add value now the truth is in any part of the world that you reciting I'm sure that you need to create value in order to make money that's the truth in it you need value and then somebody's gonna pay you for the service that's just equate works but here's the notice this is very popular for that because if you continue rest of America without any form of skill any form of qualifications what you end up doing even if you have your degree or master's degree or whatever you have a technical genis States you must ask you sometimes useless now if you a doctor maybe you can do some section courses or go through the process but if you're not a doctor for most people here at the lawyer if you're a journalist or whatever you might have studied history all those things like Davidge pretty much you have to communalist it and study what is theirs and learn from their own system no itís all know that applies really well if you studied IT you can easily transfer the skill because most of the time you already in that line of work so you just you know good resolution processes and you can easily transfer that skill but there are some courses and skills that are not transferable once you are in the United States if you have no skill you have no qualification you are a de pere bottom right you end up just working minimum wage and all the money you would make even do it seemed like a lot when you are in your country by the time your happiness that that one is nothing because you probably just be working minimum-wage job and that minimum-wage job will only just feed you maybe provide you some place to live and that's it because anything extra that you make is probably not gonna be enough for you to really go further in terms of maybe you want to go further in your education maybe you want to support somebody from home it doesn't really go that far and that's why it's very important that you come with the skill so let's talk about a skill for a second alright a lot of people and these are people that I've met that I've seen that I've talked to interacted with these are people that probably don't have any educational qualifications but because they have a skill they are able to go further than people that actually went to school and after good for a nine-to-five job and one of those skills first one is if you have handy like it's very like handyman now you cap in tire you can fix top you can repair stuff you can paint you can landscape you can do all this kind of work now this is a kind of work that if you try to do them wherever you guys are like in Nigeria we will consider like oh man that's for you know like your maid or your house boy that will call them or I was Gil to do those are kind of things that you always give them to do right what is that kind of skills that over here people pay you a lot of money to do them because people often are occupied with their own businesses their own jobs and they will prefer to just leave those kind of jobs to other people and you'll pay extra for it now the reason I'm talking about this kind of job is that obviously it won't be a lot of money but because you have that skill you have that competitive advantage / people that are charging a lot of extra now I'm fully going one thing I wanted to understand is that make sure that whatever you're doing you seek in legal advice all right because I don't want to share information and somebody comes on and say oh I'm wrong go but this is not right the truth is I'm not a legal adviser I'm not a tax advisor I'm not a lawyer I have no form of information to really share in regards to the legality of some of these things but one thing I know is that first of all you need to make sure that you have your documents right and secondly if you do not have like your permanent residency they try to make sure you have like your ITIN number so that you can pay taxes because that's very important IRS wants their money I don't want you to get into trouble based on what I said but the key thing is that once you have your legal sides on the control I have it in place the next thing you won't start looking into is that you want to use those skills that you've learned from home and one of the easiest ways that I've seen that people make money in this country is by doing menial jobs that pay you a lot of money example of those jobs are like for example if you know to do your air if you can make air like ladies I don't know if hairdressing they call it headers in back at home but it point is that if you can make air or do air I don't know what word to use for you ladies would know exactly I'm talking about especially the African like people we can you know we have that tough air and sometimes you have to do your end starting way unto your braids and all this type of esta as I do if you're a lady please call and learn how to do this tickets because even as a student you can do some of these things to make small amount of money on the side while still going to school and that is why I'm saying that you know this is the things that I wish I knew before comes United States if you again Gatlin also caught air like if you can cut air properly and you know make it look nice you will get paid doing that and the truth is this right as long as you are legal and also that I do legal things the proper way these are things that you can actually create a lot of businesses out of I've met like few other people that have done this and they are making a lot of money why because I did another day as an immigrant we are not trying to most of us are not trying to leave in a way that that is outside of our means we all know that we have responsibilities or we have things to take care of back at home so as long as you cut your coat according to your size that they say you will make a lot of money doing some of these jobs now these are not jobs that you know that I like cleaning because those kind of jobs you know Puu end up working minimum wage and you end up not going anywhere or like working as a manager or the gas station make those kind of jobs will not pay you and you can get anyway because well they might pay you like to survive but you're not going to get anywhere this kind of jobs and the kind of jobs that really get you far is to create businesses now if you know how to landscape like some people not to like you know trim flowers and do landscape now you don't necessarily have to do it yourself you will hire people but because you have the knowledge on how to do it that is where you will make your money and you just find people to support you and you beating one direction there and this is something that I feel like I wish I knew when I first got here another example of a job that is realistic now you don't have to have a lot of money to do real estate for if you have knowledge of doing like it repairs painting doing tiles oh my goodness I'm gonna give you an example there's a friend of mine that knows about this thing doesn't even speak English I don't speak English but because it knows that it knows how to like do all the Styles and painting and set up like the old interior of a house this guy's killing it is killing it and this is someone that cannot speak English so the point is this right if you can just lend those cup of skills now there's so in this good do not fix it car oh my goodness can you fix a car if you can fix a car that is something that you will get away with us well because you will have a lot of people calling you day and night there isn't why a lot of people prepare services over your competition is this now to tell you that when you arrive or where you come to United States you need your own circle of people like people that look like you people that speak the same language as you and most of the time we have some family members or friends that we kind of grew up with or where we know and these are people that we end up having a circle of friends around them as well so those kind of people when they know that you have the skills I would I would start you and I start recommending your services to other people and this is where your cycle of contacts gets larger and larger and your business grows along with it now this is something that I wish I knew like it's very easy for me to save now because obviously I've spent 10 years here but at the time when I came here I didn't know any of this knowledge that they have any of this information and I wish somebody had told me another example is if you can do pastries like you know those things that we make in Nigeria like we call it like snacks exactly like snacks if you can make those snacks or pastries those are the things that you can do because you have your friends and family members and maybe your uncles and auntie's that you have in many states that we wanna do a party and as long as you know they can pay for this thing you you just are doing it because you have the knowledge of the skill to do it if you have those things please remember that those opportunities for you to earn a lot of money and this is money that again as long as you're not going above your means now this alone is not gonna be like you know crazy money but the point is to give you enough to support yourself while you're in the States and to give you enough even send back home as long as you are not you know blowing up your money over here there's so many skills there's so many skills but the ones that I would want to consider are skills that you can often reuse like their skills like for example if you not to do it people would often have to do the air maybe every month or every two months I don't know maybe some ladies do get some ones and those are the kind of skills that you want because you often have to call you again simply with guys we were off enough to cut our air every week you want those kind of skills because those are repeatable they you can always count on them like okay I would always make this amount of money every month or every week and I always plan on it now when it comes to fixing the car or doing pastries those are like event oriented like for example for the cutter for you to fix the credit cards to break down right but the thing is you can always create a service out of that for example if you know how to do like all change and fix a car and do all those sort of maintenance work on your car then you can easily give this person a business card tell this person's always call you back in maybe six months or maybe in a thousand miles or five thousand or ten thousand or whatever company pick I requires because you know about it so you can always give recommendations but one thing that you always want to make sure in any form of business that you do is to be genuine and with trustworthy because as long as you trust rhodium people like you you will always get repeatable businesses now you want enos enos remember is this don't limit yourself to just a circle of friends or your people that look like you or people that Miss Piggy's images that language as you extend those circles of friends start making those connections as you arrived why because over time those other people those are groups of people start calling you because they knew that you do a good job at a reasonable price and I have to tell you something something broke in my house all right um now you guys know a cooker there's like a switch that you push right electric cookers for example that's what I twist broke down I called someone to come fix it for me they said we will just come look at it they will have to pay after p75 dollars just to look at it then to fix it if there's a problem it's got a customer that maybe only goodness me World War II God was always gonna cost me what the point is this right I decided to open up that in myself because I have a little bit of understanding when it comes to electric stuff you know and I was able to fix that thing it part the component that I changed was only what cost over 46 dollars or something but that is something that you would have to pick out about to pay someone else if I wasn't handy in a way if I couldn't do that kind of job I would have to pay someone else to do that for me and those are the kind of things that I wish I knew it is possible for you to have some of the skills container estates and get the required certifications and also to eat the proper weight that is absolutely fine but because you already have that skill makes it very easy for you to tap into and those are the kind of skills that I wants to pay attention to go and start working on those skills today like right if your plans going to set go see that uncle dude behind your house that fix cars going be the best friend let him start showing you how to fix some things if you have like a bubble go about telling that hey you want to just spend a few days with him learning how to cut people's air so that way you come over here you can tap into the skills and the skills would often give you that opportunity to survive and make extra money outside also but you know see that money that you're making if you can then invest it in other things like the stocks that I talked about on my channel or if you can invest it into some form of real estate investment because I'm also a realtor you know those kind of investments are the big investments boy you see those initial steps that you need to take to survive on a day-to-day basis in a new place is what you sustain you all right we sustain you and eventually you can start reaching
